Senior Advisors Gathered to Discuss Endowment Work
The Endowment was honored to have four former federal service Chiefs join an experienced group of forestry and community issues leaders in Washington, DC on April 10th to review the organization’s current actions and plans. The all-star band included three former Forest Service Chiefs — Max Peterson, Dale Robertson and Jack Ward Thomas — along with Pearlie Reed, 11th Chief of the Natural Resources Conservation Service. Retired Weyerhaeuser Company EVP Charles Bingham and Dr. J. Charles Lee, Past-President of Mississippi State University and former Deputy Chancellor for the Texas A&M University system, rounded-out the list of retirees who shared their thoughts with the Endowment. Current leaders Neil Sampson of the Sampson Group, Dr. Cornelia Flora of Iowa State University and Roger Sedjo of Resources for the Future also participated. The day-long session with Endowment staff members afforded the chance for some of the nation’s most experienced former and current natural resources leaders to provide unfiltered feedback on Endowment initiatives. “We are so pleased that these people whom we hold in such high regard would share their depth of experience with us as we continue developing our work,” said Endowment President Owen. While the group provided a number of insights, cautions and suggestions, echoing words
from others of the group, Dale Robertson noted, “You are on the right track.”
