First Call for Pre-Proposals Announced
The U.S. Endowment announced its first “request for pre-proposals.” This call seeks to establish “state of the issue” understanding about community-based forestry and community-owned forests across the U.S. (full details may be found at the Request for Proposals tab). The Endowment plans to operationally “test” the two-step (pre-proposals/full proposals) process as it refines its programmatic direction within its three recently-approved focal initiatives. “Our first step in refining our focal initiatives will be to gain firm benchmarks on some foundational sources of information to help us target our work to areas that yield the greatest benefit,” said Endowment President Carlton Owen. “We wanted a fully automated system both to ensure a user friendly method to interact with potential partners and vendors and one that would also streamline work flowing into the Endowment offices so that we could maintain our lean staff model,” said Owen.
