Endowment Board Member Recognized for Lifetime of Achievement
U.S. Endowment for Forestry and Communities (the Endowment) Board Member, Bruce Miles, has been inducted into the Texas Forestry Museum’s Hall of Fame 2008. Mr. Miles holds a Bachelor of Forestry Degree from Louisiana State University (LSU) via a cooperative scholarship program between LSU and Texas A&M University. After a short stint in the Pacific Northwest, Miles joined the Texas Forest Service in 1959. He achieved the rank of State Forester in 1981 — a position he held until his retirement in 1996. Upon his retirement, Mr. Miles was granted the title, Director Emeritus by the Texas A&M System. Among a long list of honors, Mr. Miles was given the Gifford Pinchot Medal in 1997 by the Society of American Foresters. “We feel especially fortunate to have Bruce sharing his lifetime of experience and expertise with us,” said Endowment President Carlton Owen.
