Consortium to Study Community-based Forestry/Community-owned Forests
An incredible array of groups and individuals has come together under the leadership of Dynamic Coaching and Capacity Building (Silver Spring, Maryland) along with the Watershed Research and Training Center (Hayfork, California) to implement work outlined in Endowment RFP 2008-001. The work will highlight a broad spectrum of community-based forestry and community-owned forest models and experiences on public and private lands. The resulting work will include an inventory of projects, maps that highlight current community forestry activity and an on-going public database. According to the Endowment’s Vice President-Community Development Diane Snyder, “We’re excited that such a diverse group is coming together from across the nation to provide information in a manner that will not only inform our work, but that will also assist the field.” The project is slated to be complete by July 31, 2008.
