Prescribed Fire Training with NRCS
Through prescribed burns, landowners and land managers replicate natural fire conditions to improve the health of forest ecosystems. For example, the strategic use of fire to restore longleaf pine ecosystems in the Southeast also improves habitat for the gopher tortoise and other species of concern as well as contributes to soil health, forest health, and water quality.
The Endowment is partnering with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to aid landowners in implementing low-intensity burns in landscapes where fire was once a natural phenomenon.
