Community Biomass

A district heating plant in Harney County, Oregon is the result of a partnership between the Endowment, the Meyer Memorial Trust, and the Harney County government.

The plant sources local wood to heat the elementary school, courthouse, and other public buildings and provides economic, ecological, and social benefits throughout the entire community.

The sustainable harvest of woody biomass improves forest health, mitigates wildfire and infestation risk, provides income to forest owners, creates jobs, and produces green, locally-sourced energy.
